Estate Sale.
My sister-in-law gave me the heads up on an estate sale walking distance from my house. Instead of cleaning my closet like I intended (it didn't really take much convincing) I decided to check it out. I am so happy I did! The home was that of the late Blair Delmonico a fashion, jewelry and accessory designer. You definitely could tell she was one glamorous woman. There were so many things to choose from. It was almost overwhelming. I ended up getting a hard cover Audrey Hepburn coffee table book, a stack of coral beaded bracelets, a pair of dangley Swarovski crystal earrings, a peacock brooch, a Missoni silk scarf, another silk scarf, a hard gold tone clutch, and a turban (i may never actually wear it, but it was too fab and for only $2 I couldn't pass it up). Ok, so how much do you think I paid for all these goodies??? Go ahead...guess!
Fine I'll tell you. I spent $14.00!! Hello! How crazy is that!? I think they are going to have another one in October. I'll keep you guys posted.

Food Porn of The Week: Carrot Loaf
I tried out this recipe for carrot loaf last weekend. I must say it was moist and delicious. The secret ingredient is crushed pineapple which can be found in many carrot cake recipes. The lovely aroma this gave off while it was baking instantly put me in the autumn state of mind.

Style Icon: Bianca Jagger
When I think of ultimate 70s glamour the first name that comes to mind is Bianca Jagger.
How fierce was/is she!? Below is a little history on Ms. Jagger...
The Nicaraguan born beauty transformed styles tailored for men into her own innovative, scandalous, yet unique look that everyone emulated, or wanted to emulate. Her high-neck, backless halter tops with waist belts looked flawless and simple. Her style m.o., however, was more studied than most would know. "I didn't want to be discriminated against because of my gender and status," she once said. "I promised myself I was never going to be treated as a second-class citizen."
Bianca studied political science at the Paris Institute of Political Studies. And it was her French-speaking skills, combined with her brains and bravado that caught the eye of Rolling Stones lead singer, Mick Jagger, after one of his concerts. The two later married. Making her presence known as a regular at the famous New York nightclub Studio 54, her most talked about style consisted of buttoned down shirts with a loosely knotted tie; V-necks and three-piece suits complemented with black bowlers, canes, cigarettes and sunglasses. After the disco era, Bianca used her status to become a dedicated human rights activist in Nicaragua helping to fight human brutality and oppression.
Today, she remains active in advocating human rights, just as a strong, fearless and stylish Latina should.—Sofia Huertas Latina Magazine

The Cat's Meow
One of the biggest trends spotted (no pun intended) on the runways for Fall 2010 were leopard prints. Personally I think leopard print is a classic that never goes out of style. Here are few ways to add a little animal print to your wardrobe. BTW, how sick are those Giuseppe Zanotti’s!? I need to find a decent knock off ASAP!

Food Porn of The Week: Buttermilk Chocolate Chip Pancake Cookies w/Walnuts
This weekend while making pancakes for breakfast I noticed there was a recipe for chocolate chip cookies on the side of my buttermilk pancake mix. I was intruiged so I decided to give them a try. The result was more like a little chocolate chip cake rather than a cookie. They were still very tasty none the less. Here's the recipe...
1 stick of butter
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 cups Trader Joe's Buttermilk Pancake mix
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup chocolate chips
1/3 cup chopped walnuts
Add softned butter, eggs and vanilla to a large bowl. Blend with a spoon until creamy. Stir in baking mix, sugar and chocolate chips. Using a teaspoon, drop heaping spoonfuls of dough onta a lightly greased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 10 - 12 minutes or until golden brown.
