Piña Colada Popsicles

 I can't think of a better way to celebrate the end of the summer season than with these piña colada popsicles.  The addition of Malibu rum makes these pops strictly for adults.  Perfect for an end of summer soiree.  Here is what you need:
1 Can Cream of Coconut
1 Can Pineapple rings in juice
3/4 - 1 cup of Malibu Rum
Blend all ingredients.  Pour into popsicle molds and freeze for at least 12 hours.

Me, Chris, and Irene

 {Chris set up an emergency evacuation kit for us, complete with packs of Ramen}
 {setting up the blanket tent}
Luckily Irene wasn't the crazy b*tch we thought she would be and for this we are truly thankful. It rained quite a bit and the wind shook our windows, but the power remained on, everything stayed in place and there was no flooding or leaks in our apartment. The only damage around our neighborhood were a few tree limbs down here and there. Our weekend was spent inside. I made sangria, homemade pizza, and red velvet chocolate chip cookies while Chris set up our blanket tent. We watched a mini marathon of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding (our new addiction; mine for the tackiness, Chris' for the bare knuckle fighting) while sipping sangria under our makeshift tent. It was nice to stay inside and just be together.

Eye Candy of The Week

{she keeps me from wanting to chop all of my hair off}
So, this week we felt the remains of an earthquake and now we are bracing ourselves for hurricane Irene.  It has been interesting to say the least.  I'm hoping Irene passes us by, but we are prepping our little emergency kit just in case. You can never be too sure ; )
Stay safe everyone!

Shades of Fall

I've said it before and I will say it again I treat nail polish as a needed accessory.  It adds a clean finishing touch to any ensemble.  This fall there are tons of great options to choose from.  From a muted beige to a stormy metallic grey the possibilities are endless.  These are the hottest hues of the bunch...

Statement necklaces have been the rage for a few seasons now. The trend is still going strong, but the silhouette has transitioned from bib necklaces to a more "dangly" effect. Even bangles are now being adorned with metallic fringe. Displayed are a few necklace and bangle options to help add some movement to your accessory collection.

Fleur de Sel Blondies

 I was lucky enough to be gifted a bag of Fleur de Sel straight from France (thanks Mat & Linda).  I didn't want to go down the obvious route of creating something savory so I searched dessert recipes utilizing this unique salt and came across this one.  The combination would surely please any salty/sweet craving.  I changed up the recipe a bit by adding walnuts and reducing the amount of Fleur de sel to about 3/4 of a tablespoon.

The Element Tree Project

Hi Guys!
As you may already know my husband, Christian has been putting his heart and soul into the "Immortalized" documentary. The documentary is in its final stages and in order to release the DVD, pay for film festival submission fees, launch the official ELEMENT TREE website, power the Yard Work web series, among other things we are asking for your kind support. Watch his Kickstarter video here to find out how and see how far he's come in the process! Donating through Kickstarter using your major credit card is 100% safe and secure and he's offering awesome rewards to his backers! If you decide to donate, you’ll have to quickly login (free) and then you’ll be routed through Amazon, which is how your card will be charged.
Kickstarter is an organization that seeks to help creative projects get funded through donations. It’s all or nothing though, meaning that if Chris doesn't reach his goal of raising $12,000 within 60 days(end date is Oct 17th, at 12:35pm), he will not get a dime and no donations are processed! But no pressure ;-)
I consider you all family, friends and supporters of his ventures regardless of whether you decide to donate to this project or not. That said any and every pledge amount is welcome and definitely going toward a life long dream and a great cause. Thank you for your time and support!
Lots of love and appreciation,
Erica

Video: Grilled Brie with Thyme Honey & Fresh Figs

I was so inspired when I saw this eye-catching recipe that I knew I had to try it ASAP.  This makes for the perfect pre dinner appetizer or post dinner dessert when paired with a little bubbly.  The marriage of creamy brie, savory yet sweet honey, and exotic figs are perfection atop water crackers or even multi grain toasts. Your guest will be so impressed by the fancy presentation of this dish, little do they know it only takes minutes to prepare.

Summer Streets 2011

{tee shirt making at the Chipotle kiosks}
Saturday a few of us participated in our yearly tradition of NYC Summer Streets.  We rode our bikes from 58th and Park to the Brooklyn Bridge. Check out last year's photos here

The Wedding of The Summer

 A few weeks ago Kate Moss and Jamie Hince got hitched. The wedding was photographed by Mario Testino. Here are a few of my favorite shots.

How amazing are these photos?!  But really would you expect any less?
